Program has supported nearly 270 graduates since 1984, providing more than $1M in local scholarships
Gonzales, La. – REV has awarded scholarships to 12 high school seniors across its South Louisiana service area, eclipsing a milestone of more than $1 million invested in student scholarships since the program’s beginnings in South Lafourche more than 40 years ago.
The scholarships were presented and winners announced during end-of-year awards ceremonies at local high schools, recognizing students for their academic achievement, leadership, service, and community engagement.
“This scholarship reflects our organization’s investment in students and the future of our communities,” said Josh Descant, REV’s CEO. “We’re proud to continue this tradition and help these students take the next step toward their higher education and career goals.”
What began more than four decades ago in Lafourche Parish and Grand Isle has grown alongside REV’s expanding footprint. Today, the program supports students across multiple South Louisiana communities, reflecting the company’s continued investment in education and local growth.
“As we continue to grow in the communities we serve, expanding access to this scholarship program was a natural step,” said Tressy Leindecker, executive vice president of Sales and Marketing. “Growing this program across our all of our residentially served regions allows us to support more students at a critical moment in their journey and celebrate the impact they’re already making in their communities.”
Over the past 42 years, 269 graduating seniors have received REV scholarships, with recipients selected based on academic performance, ACT scores, financial need, leadership, and community involvement. Applicants also complete an essay and participate in an interview process led by a selection committee comprised of employees from across the organization.
