REV awarding $40,000 in scholarships to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the high school scholarship program in the Bayou Region

Eligible high school seniors are encouraged to submit their applications now through March 15

Larose, La.REV is celebrating the 40th anniversary of its annual high school scholarship program, which benefits graduating high school seniors in the provider’s Bayou Region – including Grand Isle and Lafourche Parish schools. Seniors are encouraged to apply online before the March 15th deadline.

The REV scholarship program awards graduating seniors with scholarship funds to aid in covering expenses encountered in college such as tuition, room and board, books, and more – providing college-bound students a level of financial freedom during their years of study.

“In honor of our 40th year of providing these scholarships to our Bayou Region seniors, we’re marking this occasion by awarding $40,000 in college assistance,” said Josh Descant, REV’s CEO. “REV’s commitment to education remains a central focus in the communities we serve and we’re proud to see this tradition continue for the next 40 years!”

Since starting the Bayou Region scholarship program in 1984, REV has awarded over 225 scholarships, totaling $930,000. Over the past 40 years, many of the scholarship recipients have returned to the Bayou Region to invest back in the community.

“Annually, our employees who serve on the selection panel look forward to this exciting giving initiative,” said Jeremy Theriot, director of Community Relations and Business Development for REV. “It’s as much a challenge as it is an honor to review these seniors’ applications, interview the finalists, and ultimately reward their hard work.”

Eligibility, criteria, and considerations for REV’s scholarship program include being a current REV residential customer in good standing, residing in the REV Bayou Region service area, cumulative grade point average (GPA), American College Testing (ACT) scores, financial need, demonstrated leadership, and community involvement. Candidates are also required to submit an essay as part of the application.
