Nearing $1M awarded since inception, REV continues 40-year legacy of supporting education through scholarships for graduating high school students

Eligible high school seniors are encouraged to submit their application now through March 26

Gonzales, La. – REV is excited to announce the opening and expansion of the local telecommunications provider’s academic scholarship application for graduating high school seniors. Eligible seniors residing in REV’s service regions are encouraged to apply online before the March 26 deadline.

The REV scholarship program provides students with financial assistance to cover college expenses such as tuition, room and board, books and more throughout their years of study – lessening the financial burdens and barriers often encountered during college.

“As our company celebrates 90 years of service, we are excited to expand the scholarship program this year to all of our service regions, recognizing more students for their academic achievements,” said Josh Descant, REV’s CEO. “REV remains committed to supporting education in the communities we serve and investing in the next generation of leaders – especially through this generations-spanning scholarship program.”

The REV academic scholarship program, founded in 1984 in the provider’s Bayou Region, has awarded 237 scholarships totaling $970,000. This year, the total awarded amount will cross a $1 million milestone – marking the company’s 90-year celebration and continued dedication to education.

“The students we meet every year never cease to amaze members of our selection committee – moving our team with their impressive dedication to academic achievement, extra-curricular activities and community involvement,” said Peter Louviere, REV’s CFO. “Further, it’s an incredible joy when we get the chance to witness many of these students returning home and investing back into their local communities after college graduation.”

Eligibility, criteria, and considerations for REV’s scholarship program include being a current REV residential customer in good standing, residing in a REV service area, cumulative grade point average (GPA), American College Testing (ACT) scores, financial need, demonstrated leadership, and community involvement. Candidates must also submit an essay as part of the application process.
