How to set up email on your iPhone, iPod, and iPad

1. Start by going to settings and then tapping Mail, Contacts and Calendars.
2. Tap Add Account on the next screen.
3. Tap Other and then Add Mail Account on the next screen.
4. Type in your email information as requested by the new account screen and click next.
5. Select POP start entering in your information.
6. For the host name on both incoming and outgoing server use mail.rtconline.com.  Be sure to type in user name and password for both incoming and outgoing server and select next.
7. You will get a dialog box twice that says it cannot connect and verify using SSL. Tap Yes for both of these boxes.
8. You will get a ‘Verified’ screen next. Tap done. Your RTC e-mail is now successfully configured.

How to set up email on your iPhone, iPod, and iPad

5. Select IMAP start entering in your information.
6. For the host name on both incoming and outgoing server use mail.rtconline.com.  Be sure to type in user name and password for both incoming and outgoing server and select next.
7. You will get a dialog box twice that says it cannot connect and verify using SSL. Tap Yes for both of these boxes.
8. You will get a ‘Verified’ screen next. Tap done. Your RTC e-mail is now successfully configured.

How to set up your email on Android Phone/Tablet

Instructions may differ slightly depending on your device type.

1. Find and tap the icon labeled “E-mail.” You will get a “Set up email” screen. 
2. Type in full e-mail address and password. Tap next. Your Android phone should locate and set up the phone automatically. 
3. If not, use the following server information:
   Server Type: POP Incoming & Outgoing
   Server: mail.rtconline.com
   SSL: OFF
4. Change “Email Check Frequency” to whatever you prefer. The more your phone checks email, the more battery it uses. In the next screen type in the name you want to send as. 
5. Click done. You are now finished setting up your Android phone or tablet.

How to set up email on Outlook 2010, 2013 and 2016 

1. Start by opening Outlook 2010, 2013, or 2016 on your computer.
2. Click on the word File on the top left of the window.
3. Click on Add Account on the next window.
4. Type in your rtconline.com email information as requested by the new account screen and click Next.
5. Outlook will say that it could not find encrypted settings for your account. This is ok. Click Next.
6. Outlook will find the settings for your rtconline.com email address without encrypted settings. Click Finish. Your rtconline.com account will be added to Outlook.

How to set up your email in Outlook Express

1. On your PC, open Outlook Express. On the top menu bar, click Tools and then click Accounts.
2. Click on your RTC Online account and then click Properties on the right. (If you have more than one account, you will have to do this for each account.)
3. Click the Servers tab at the top of the window and click the checkbox next to “My server requires authentication” near the bottom. Click Apply and close out of all windows opened during this setup.

How to set up your email in Mozilla Thunderbird

1. On your PC, open Mozilla Thunderbird. Under Thunderbird Mail click on Create a new account.
2. At the bottom left of the email setup box click Skip this and use my existing email.
3. Enter your rtconline.com account information and click Continue.
4. Click Manual Config to open more options.
5. Make sure the Server hostname, port, SSL and Authentication matches the picture shown. Click Retest then click Done.
6. Thunderbird will alert you that no encryption is used. This is ok. Click I understand, then click Done.

This tutorial was created using version 17 of Windows 10 Mail. If you are using a different version, these instructions may differ.

Scroll back to the top of your device and select NEXT.

Your device will verify the login information. Depending on your device, this may take several minutes to complete.

iPhone/iPod/iPad

1. Open up Settings
   Click Mail, Contacts and Calendars
2. Find your RTCOnline account and click the Arrow
3. Enter your new password in the Incoming AND Outgoing Mail Server options.
4. Press done and verify you can send/receive.

Android Phones/Tablets

1. Open up the Mail app.
2. Click the menu button and click Settings
3. Find your account and scroll down to Incoming Settings
4. Enter your new password in the password field.
5. Press Back and click Outgoing Settings
6. Enter your new password in the password field.
7. Press done and verify you can send/receive.

Both POP (Post Office Protocol) and IMAP (Internet Message access protocol) allow people to get access to their email from a remote server; however, that is where most similarities end. POP simply downloads email to your computer, and usually (but not always) deletes the email from the remote server. The problems arise if you have more than one device where you read your mail (desktop, laptop, tablet or phone). Here’s why it’s bad: You have to delete or file the same email on every device.

Logging into each device, you will see lots of unread emails with no indication of which you deleted, read, flagged or filed. Any folders you created and organize on one device won’t be replicated on the other devices.

IMAP allows users to store their email on remote servers. This two-way protocol also allows the user to synchronize their email among multiple devices, which is extremely important today, when most people have at least two devices – their laptop and smartphone.
