REV/REV Business awards $23,000 in local scholarships to Lafourche Parish high school seniors
$885,000 in scholarships have been awarded to local high school seniors since program’s inception

Larose, La. – REV/REV Business – formerly known as Reserve Telephone Company (RTC), EATEL/EATEL Business and Vision Communications – recently awarded scholarships to seniors from South Lafourche High School during the schools’ senior awards ceremonies.

Since the founding of then-Lafourche Telephone Company (Latelco) in 1945, the telecommunications provider has made local community support an unyielding priority. Founding the scholarship fund in 1984, the local telecommunications provider has awarded more than 200 scholarships to local high school seniors throughout Lafourche Parish as well as Grand Isle.

While the company’s name has changed, its commitment to education has remained the same as REV/REV Business proudly continues its scholarship program to support the local communities’ graduating seniors.

“Truly one of the highlights of our year, these REV scholarships benefit students and their academic achievement and serve as a great reminder that investing in our community’s young scholars will always be the right thing to do,” said Peter Louviere, CFO for REV/REV Business. “Similar to the prior years’ graduates who had a less-than-ordinary senior year, 2022’s class persevered through a different kind of adversity in the form of Hurricane Ida. Given the economic impact of this destructive storm to our bayou community, awarding this year’s scholarships to these deserving students came with a recharged sense of significance.”

This year, $23,000 in scholarship funds were awarded to the following local high school seniors:

  • Alaina Ashum (South Lafourche High School)
  • Carson Chiasson (South Lafourche High School)
  • Isabella Lasseigne (South Lafourche High School)
  • Sagan Rousse (South Lafourche High School)
  • Zachary Slade (South Lafourche High School)
  • Kendall Smith (South Lafourche High School)
  • Gavin Terrebonne (South Lafourche High School).

“For our employees who serve, being part of the interview panel and selection committee is as difficult an assignment as it is an honor,” said Jeremy Theriot, Community Relations and Business Development director for REV/REV Business. “Being part of a company that sets aside the time and resources to support and recognize these students’ achievements not only in the classroom but throughout the community is a true honor and a privilege that our panel and committee never underscore. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for these young, brilliant adults.”

Eligibility, criteria and considerations for REV’s scholarship program include residing in the REV-Bayou Region service area, cumulative grade point average (GPA), American College Testing (ACT) scores, financial need, demonstrated leadership and community involvement. Candidates are also required to submit an essay. Finalists then proceed to a panel interview comprised of REV/REV Business employees.
